The Empire Mall opened with 47 stores in 1975, on what was then a vacant stretch of farmland. Through several expansions, The Empire Mall and Empire East now showcase 180 stores on 128 acres in the heart of Sioux Falls, SD. Anchor stores include Marshall Field’s, JCPenney, Sears, and Younkers at The Empire Mall, as well as Kohl’s and Target at Empire East.
