Description

Reston Town Center began with Phase One in 1990. It has since won 23 regional and national awards for quality in design, construction and operation including the prestigious American Institute of Architects Award for Excellence in Urban Design.

The completion of Phase One included two Class A, 11-story twin office buildings and the Hyatt Regency Hotel, which has 514 rooms, extensive conference facilities and an executive fitness center. At street-level there are retail shops, restaurants and entertainment. There are also plenty of parking facilities, accomodating over 3,000 automobiles.

The centerpiece of this project is beautiful Fountain Square, an open civic plaza which boasts the Mercury Fountain at its center. Brazilian-born sculptor, Saint Clair Cemin, designed the fountain. Reaching a height of 20 feet, the fountain is crowned with a bronze figure of Mercury, the Greek Messenger God. There are bronze “trumpets” along the column of the fountain from which the water flows. Lush plants, low seating and broad steps make this area very inviting to pedestrians. Beyond the fountain, a variety of different artworks and the open-air Pavilion, complete this lovely area.

Phase Two is in the same award-winning style of Phase One, emphasizing quality in design and construction of a lively urban streetscape with convenient amenities. Phase Two includes One Freedom Square, an 18-story Class A headquarters office building which is the tallest building in the area. This building offers 408,980 square feet of office space and 1,628 parking spaces in an adjacent 7-level structure.

The second building, Two Freedom Square is comprised of 16 floors and approximately 420,000 square feet of office space. The south side of Phase Two is being planned to include approximately 45,200 square feet of office space in two additional buildings and 60,000 square feet of retail.
